The world’s largest aquarium is located in Singapore, a country that is very small in size but extremely developed. Only 50 years ago Singapore was a piece of farmland in Malaysia. In 1965 Singapore gained independence and started developing rapidly. Singapore is now one of the world’s most developed and safe places, it is a booming metropolis with countless architectural developments, the world’s largest aquarium in Singapore is a testament to the mighty growth of the city.

The park has an area of 8 hectares (20 acres) and houses 2 main attractions, the “SEA Aquarium” and the “Adventure Cove Waterpark”. It hsa also been featured as the world’s largest oceanarium (aquatic themepark) between 2012 and 2014.

Marinelife Aquatic Park – S.E.A Aquarium

The S.E.A (South East Asia) Aquarium was the world’s largest single aquarium tank until it was overtaken by the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in China. It has a total capacity of 45,000,000 litres (12,000,000 gallons). This huge capacity allows more than 100,000 Marine animals and 800 species.

This aquarium has over 10 zones with 49 different habitats. The central-point of the aquarium is the “open ocean tank” containin more than 18,000,000 litres of water and 50,000 different animals.

The S.E.A aquarium had the world’s largest viewing panel, a 36-metre wide, 8.3 metre tall, this aquarium was designed to give visitors the impression of standing on the ocean floor.

“…including one of the only giant oceanic mata ray in captivity. it also showcases 24 Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins, scalloped hammerhead sharks, the Japanese Spider Crab, and relatively uncommonly-exhibited species such as the guitarfish and the chambered nautilus”

Some of the main attractions in the world’s largest aquarium:

  • Strait of Karimata and Java Sea: Houses fish such as batfish, also has an ornamental sunken ship designed to look like a shipwreck (fish love hanging around sunken boats)Image result for sunken boat with fish
  • Strait of Malacca and Andaman Sea – Another great attraction in the world’s largest aquarium. This attraction contains animals such as the leopard wrasse and blue flasher wrasses. Image result for wrasses
  • Bay of Bengal and Laccadive Sea – Contains rare and endangered plants and animals, a sight you will most likely never see in nature unfortunately.
  • Ocean Journey – At the world’s largest aquarium you will be face-to-face with the indo-pacific bottlenose dolphins. Also home to the giant spider crab and several different jellyfish species.
  • Open Ocean – a huge home designed for gentle giants such as leopard sharks, manta rays.
  • Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea – Asalamualaykum habib, this exhibit features the ocean-life of the middle-east. Bluespotted stingrays, sally lightfoot crabs. Also includes the soft-coral garden, heavily populated with reef fish.
  • Red Sea – The straight between Africa and the middle-east. This place contains a wide variety of different corals and warm water fish (fairy basslet, orange0lined triggerfish, longhorn cowfish)
  • East Africa – the largest aquarium in the world has a tank catered to the marine life in the piece of Ocean to the east of the African contonent – this place contain animals such as the Frontosa and Africa tigerfish.
  • South China Sea – This exhibit covers the wild life located in the ocean region to the South of China. This includes animals such as lobsters, squirrelfish and soldierfish. The Moray Eel habitat is also included in this section.
  • Shark seas – This is an arbitrary name not specific to a real-world ocean, it is simply a display area containing many of the world’s shark species.
